Newcastle Christmas Market

Christmas is nearly over, and I’ve been meaning to post about the Newcastle Christmas Market for weeks now. With over 40 traders from around the world offering the best in international cuisine, this was the place to be, drink and eat during the festive period. It’s also a great excuse to support local businesses. My utmost favourite stall was The Greek Grill House – The Taste of Greece (I’m not biased I promise). Here, I ate chicken gyros (γύρο κοτόπουλο) and it instantly reminded me of Athens. It was meaty, filled to the brim with chicken and tzatziki, and I loved every last bite.

My dad and his friends laughed at the little fork when I showed them this photo

They are pretty absent on social media but I managed to find a couple of photos on Market Place Europe’s Flikr

They seem to travel to a lot of markets around England so keep an eye out for them. You can also try tyropita (τυρóπιτα) and spanakopita (σπανακόπιτα).
