IKEA multigrain bread baking mix

BRÖDMIX FLERKORN: A REVIEW

If you’ve been longing to bake a multigrain loaf (but you just can’t be arsed) then look no further. IKEAs BRÖDMIX FLERKORN is super easy to make and you literally just add water!

The packet costs £2.45/€3.60 and according to instructions should take roughly 1 hr 45 mins total in prep and baking time. Though, this wasn’t the case for me haha.

Ingredients: wheat flour (21%), wheat flakes (20%), rye flakes (17%), coarse rye flour (13%), sunflower kernels (8%), wheat starch, linseed (6%), malt (4%) (from barley), sourdough powder (rye flour), salt, dried yeast.

Directions:

1. Start by vigorously shaking the packet. This is so the flour, seeds and grains are consistently mixed together
2. Cut across the top of the packet and add 600ml of water, then shake again to mix it all together

This part got slightly messy; the water began to seep out of the packet, so I stopped shaking it and just mixed the rest together with a wooden spoon

1. Tip the mixture into a bowl, cover and allow to rest for 45 mins
2. Grease a bread tin

I used a rosemary olive oil which gave the bread a nice herby hum (hum?). I’d recommend using a flavoured oil

1. Tip the mixture into the tin
2. Place into the bottom of the oven at 200ºc for 60 mins

After 60 mins my loaf was still a bit moist underneath. I removed it from the tin, turned it upside down onto a tray and put it back in the oven for 20 mins to harden up

Once cooled it’s delicious with a layer of Lurpak topped with sundried tomatoes. I’ve been having this for my breakfast and as a snack.
